Email Marketing Strategy: The Cornerstone of Success

In today’s digital age, email marketing continues to showcase its unmatched return on investment and potential for growth. Building a solid email marketing list is an invaluable asset for any business, and I’m here to share how you can maximize its potential even with a modest-sized audience. Let’s dive into the details.

Segmentation: The Key to Effective Communication

The foundation of a successful email marketing strategy lies in segmentation. We’ll divide our email communications into three distinct segments: daily emails, campaigns, and automation. The power of segmentation lies in its ability to deliver tailored messages to your audience based on their specific preferences, behaviors, and needs.

1. Daily Emails: Your Testing Ground.

Begin your journey by embracing the concept of daily emails. Don’t let the idea of daily correspondence overwhelm you; think of it as an ongoing testing ground. Use these emails to experiment with subject lines, messaging, and email formats. It’s all about learning what resonates best with your audience. The main thing you want to look for is feedback, so you want to start testing your subject lines, you want to start testing copy,  you want to start testing calls to action,  you want to start testing email formatting,  like I’ve just stripped all the html out of our emails now and they’re pretty much as if I’ve just written an email like an outlook or newton to someone and the reason this is so powerful, is because it allows me to take segments of my market and think what would be super useful for them right now and it might be an offer,  it might be a product,  it might be a service,  it might be some training saying “hey we’ve got some new training program on XYZ”. Jump on in, even if you’ve only got a list of like 10 people. I still want you to get into the habit of sending a daily email list, and if your customers have got a small list, I still want you to get into the habit of sending a daily email, because this is going to give you loads of insight really really quickly and ultimately, what we’re looking for, is what works so if you send 10 emails and you realize that there’s one subject line, it has a crazy high open rate, it’s a good idea that that subject line is then going to be in your campaigns and in your automation.

2. Campaigns: Crafting Engaging Narratives for Game-changing email marketing.

Campaigns are your opportunity to tell compelling stories that guide your audience towards a specific goal or product. Break down your campaigns into manageable chunks, typically spanning three months each. Start by working backward from your desired end result, whether it’s a product sale or a specific action. campaigns are long stories or long sequences, that you’re going to tell to end up with a end result, so let’s say at the end, you basically want to end it in a product

sale. What I like to do is, I like to split my campaigns. I like to do four per year, which means that, I do one campaign every sort of three months, which means I then

split my campaigns into three months, so this might be January, February, March, with the product sale in march, what I like to do is, take the subject lines, the email campaigns, the ideas, the topics, the product ideas and start putting them into the campaign. As a rule of thumb, the easiest campaign that you can put together is, work backwards from the product sale date and say look at the end of March, that’s when we’re going to close the sale. You don’t have to do discounts, you don’t have to do pricing battles or anything like that. This is just promoting it for three months, and the way that I like to do it is, start with the end in mind, and i’ll work backwards towards the top of the campaign at the start of that three-month sequence. That means, in this month, this is when I basically write my sales copy, so this is telling people to buy it, this is reminding them of the benefits.
